Background:

VMA, a swiss NGO created in 1993, supports since 1995 a pediatric hospital in Cần Tho Province in Mekong Delta. Cần Thơ pediatric hospital is a tertiary hospital with 350 beds, but will move this year to a 500 beds newly built hospital. VMA and the pediatric hospital collaborate especially in the domains of hygiene, neonatology and training of medical and paramedical staff. A project of continuing education for para-medical staff began 4 years ago, with the support of the pediatric department of the university hospital of Lausanne in Switzerland (CHUV).
